The Elizabeth Block Scholarship
We are pleased to announce the Elizabeth Block Scholarship, a $5,000 award available to a deserving member of the Science Leadership Academy (SLA) Class of 2025.
Eligibility
- Must be a current member of the SLA Class of 2025
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must have a financial need for the scholarship
Award Amount
The selected recipient will receive a one-time scholarship of $5,000 to support their future educational endeavors.
Application Requirements
Interested students are required to submit an essay meeting the following criteria:
- Topic: “How I Have Made SLA a Better School During My Time in High School”
- Length: 500-750 words
- Format: Double-spaced, 12-point font
Essay Guidelines
In your essay, consider addressing the following points:
- Specific initiatives or projects or groups you have led or participated in
- How your actions have positively impacted the SLA community
- Personal growth and lessons learned through your contributions
- Your vision for the future of SLA and how you’ve helped shape it
Submission Deadline
March 1, 2025 – Essays should be submitted to Ms. Mack at cmack@scienceleadership.org.
Selection Process
Essays will be reviewed by a committee of faculty members and representatives from the Elisabeth Block family. The recipient will be chosen based on the quality of their essay, and the impact of their contributions to SLA.
Notification
The scholarship recipient will be notified by April 1, 2024.
