Girls soccer took home a commanding 5-1 win over Frankford in a scrappy, muddy match on Friday afternoon. Leading scorer, freshman Rebecca Cassel-Siskind, knocked in the first goal early in the first half. Soon thereafter, Cassel-Siskind dished a beautiful cross to junior transfer, Faryn Heffner, who knocked in her first SLA goal. The third goal of the half came on a penalty kick by freshman defender, Mira Young, with a zinger to the bottom left corner. It was also Young’s first varsity goal.

Frankford stepped up their defense in the second half, but the Rockets still found two more goals, with a short tap in by tenacious Amelia Benamara and perfectly placed ball by Autumn Lor, both senior captains.

Sophomore goalkeeper, Margie Castejon Gamez played a tremendous game, with 7 saves. Her defensive support, junior Clari Herrera, senior captain, Sharron Norton, freshman starter, Lorna Elliot and sophomore, Hillary Hernandez, played an aggressive game, keeping the ball out of their end of the field for much of the game.

The Rockets have a busy week ahead, facing String Theory on Monday, Kensington on Tuesday and Freire on Friday.
