The boys focus on conditioning paid off in their first game of the season as the Rockets outlasted the Swenson Lions on Tuesday winning 5-1.
The first goal of the season was scored after a long run from senior Jacobo Pastor who showed off his fancy moves along the way before crossing the ball to junior Dalnick Matos who netted the goal midway through the first half.
Swenson tied the game late in the first half on a beautiful long range goal and nearly took the lead, just missing the goal on multiple occasions.
In the second half the Rockets came alive as their consistent pressure paid. SLA took the lead midway through the second half on a goal from sophomore Tristan Dini. The Rockets added 3 more goals in the closing minutes. The defense was led by strong performances from senior Ashton Reigner and sophomore Douglas Oliver to close the game out.
SLA’s offense was led by Dini who ended the day with a hat trick and Matos who finished the day with two.
Next game is Thursday against Palumbo at 3:15 at Lee Cultural Center (44th and Haverford). Come out and support the team. Go Rockets!!!
