The Boys Ultimate team finished their season with their strongest showing at the PA State Championships ever this weekend. The team started Saturday with a strong showing against Fox Chapel HS, beating them decisively 15-5. The team then suffered a setback, losing to Pennsbury HS 15-8 in their second game, forcing them to play in a pre-quarters game to qualify for the Championship Bracket on Sunday. Fortunately, the team rallied and beat Holy Ghost HS 15-8 at the end of the day on Sunday to make the quarterfinals on Sunday morning.

Sunday saw the Rockets face off against familiar foe, Strath Haven High School for a spot in the semi-finals. The first half saw a see-saw battle with SLA taking the early lead before Haven came back to take half 8-7. Haven continued to pressure the Rockets, breaking the SLA offense early in the second half to take a 12-9 lead late in the game.

The Rockets turned up the defensive intensity, cleaned up the offense, and came back to tie the game at 13. At 13-all, SLA turned up their defense with key blocks by juniors Aiden Smith and Dan Burke, and SLA won the game when junior Sebastian Becker threw the game winning goal to Senior Captain Nati Roemer-Block to put the Rockets into the semi-finals with one of most exciting wins in the 20 year history of the team.

The Rockets fell in the semi-finals to eventual State Champions Wissahickon HS before getting revenge on Pennsbury HS 13-10 to take third place in the state.
