This past weekend, the SLA Girls Ultimate team took second place at the prestigious Spring Fling tournament – beating several nationally ranked teams along the way!

On Saturday, the girls opened the day with one of the best wins in the history of the program, knocking off the 8th ranked HB Woodlawn in a thrilling 9-8 win. SLA took the energy from that win into their next two games, winning their pool with decisive wins over Columbia HS 7-4 and Stuyvesant HS 11-2.

Sunday’s quarterfinal saw SLA continue their dominance over NYC teams with a 7-2 win over Brooklyn Tech, and in the semi-finals, SLA beat 22nd ranked Jackson-Reed of DC. In the finals, the SLA girls fell to a very strong Strath Haven team 13-5, but due to their strong play all weekend long, the new national rankings have SLA ranked as the #17 team in the nation!

SLA is being hailed as one of the toughest defensive teams in the nation, and with a young core of players, the sky is the limit for the Rockets!
