The SLAmbassadors Germany group has had a wonderful first few days here in Frankfurt!

We arrived in Germany right on time and got through the airport easily. The students were picked up by their German partner and their parents from the airport and brought to their German homes to get acquainted. That afternoon we met up at school and then went to a Clash Room. The Clash Room was a great way to have the students become acquainted with each other and play some simple competitive games.

The following day was German Reunification Day, which is an important national holiday here celebrating East and West Germany coming together as one country at the end of the Cold War. So that means that there was no school on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. So, the Americans were with their German families to check out the city and other areas around Frankfurt. The teenagers self-organized over the long weekend and met up socially and deepened new friendships.

Today the German students had classes and their American friend shadowed them through these classes. In the afternoon we met up for lunch and then went to an observation deck in Frankfurt. This city is one of the few in Europe to have skyscrapers and the views were incredible.

More to come as the voyage continues!
